6 Chiropractic Myths we are Busting!

We can track the origin of Chiropractic care all the way back to 1895 in the United States. Even with this long history, confusion remains about its use and application.

  1. Myth – Chiropractors only treat back pain

Truth: PROTx Chiropractors can assess and treat a wide variety of concerns from head to toe including issues related to the spine, joints and nervous system.

      2. Myth – You can ‘crack’ your own back

Truth: While you may be able to make your back pop, the sound is simply the release of gas from a joint. Cracking your own back is usually non-specific, meaning you’re not necessarily moving the joint that’s causing the problem. A chiropractor performs specific, targeted adjustments to the joints that need them, with the goal of improving movement and function, not just creating a popping sound.

3.Myth – Chiropractic adjustments are painful

Truth: Adjustments of the spine and other joints should not be painful and some clients even experience immediate relief.

4. Myth – Chiropractors only treat using adjustments

Truth: PROTx Chiropractors use a range of treatment techniques including adjustments, mobilizations, soft tissue work, dry needling, acustim units, shockwave therapy, and exercise. You can receive a full treatment without the use of adjustments if this is your preference.

    5. Myth – Chiropractic care is only for when you’re in pain

Truth: Pain is often the last symptom to appear and the first to improve, but that doesn’t always mean the underlying issue has resolved. Regular chiropractic care can help maintain joint mobility, improve movement, reduce strain on the body, and address minor problems before they become more significant.

    6. Myth – Chiropractic care is only for adults

Truth: Just like adults, children can benefit from chiropractic care as they grow, helping support healthy movement, address muscle and joint discomfort, and promote proper function. From sports injuries and posture concerns to the everyday challenges of growing bodies, chiropractors can assess movement and provide age-appropriate care
