What to Expect

We try to make your appointments as seamless as possible. Intake forms will be sent to you prior to your appointment and completing them in advance will reduce your time doing paperwork prior to seeing your therapist. If you are unable to fill in the forms, please come 15 minutes early to your appointment so we can help you do this. Your first visit will generally take an hour and will involve various movements and testing. Your therapist will provide feedback and education throughout your session and answer all your questions. Our Admin team will walk you through the steps needed for billing and for booking future appointments.

For Massage Assessments, your therapist will spend the first few minutes learning more about your issue and conducting a few assessment tests to determine the best massage techniques to use for you. The majority of the appointment will be spent on your massage treatment.

What to Wear

Please wear comfortable clothing that you can move around in. Physiotherapy and Chiropractic assessments require testing range of motion in the affected areas. If you are being assessed or treated for lower limb issues, it is best to wear shorts. Bring or wear sneakers to your Physiotherapy sessions as exercises in our gym area are often part of your rehab.

For Massage Therapy:
Prior to your massage, your therapist will give you instructions for how they need you to position yourself on the treatment table. They will then leave the room to allow you to disrobe to your comfort level and to cover yourself with the sheets. Some clients prefer to keep their underwear on, and others prefer to disrobe completely, either option is appropriate and your therapist can accommodate your preference. Massage therapists are skilled at using sheets for draping and only the area to be treated is undraped for treatment.

What to Bring

On your first appointment, bring your health insurance information and a valid credit card. For workplace or motor vehicle collision injuries – please bring claim number, adjustor information and insurance policies if available.

Who Can Attend With You

You are welcome to bring a family member with you to appointments if you prefer.

If you have young children and are not able to have childcare for them, they can attend your appointments.

Please keep in mind that having your children attend your massage therapy session may not be ideal, as rooms can be small and quiet is recommended for relaxing treatments. If you are lying face down to have your back treated you will not be able to view and supervise a child.

Billing Policy

The provincial health care plan in Nova Scotia (MSI) does not cover private health care services; therefore, full payment is your responsibility and is due at the time of the appointment.

If you have coverage through your personal health plan, company plan, or any third party insurer, you are still directly responsible for payment. We are only permitted to bill the primary insurance – all co-pays and submissions to secondary coverage are your responsibility.

In the event of coverage resulting from a motor vehicle collision (MVC) or personal injury claim, confirmation of coverage (including the policy and claim numbers) must be obtained from the insurance company to proceed with direct billing.

In the event of coverage resulting from an injury at work, a Workers’ Compensation Board (WCB) claim number is needed to proceed with direct billing. If not provided, or if the claim has not yet been approved, it is your personal responsibility for all fees billed to your account.

Cancellation Policy

Your appointment time is reserved just for you, and as such, a late cancellation or missed visit leaves a hole in the therapist’s schedule that could have been filled by another client.

Best Case Scenario – you contact us with more than 24 hours’ notice. THANK YOU! All is well.

Life Happens Scenario – you contact us with less than 24 hours’ notice – we understand things happen and no cancellation fee will be assigned the first time this happens. If this scenario happens more than once a cancellation fee of $25 will be assigned to your account.

No One Wins Scenario – you do not cancel your appointment, do not attend, and someone else cannot access therapy. A ‘No Show’ fee of $25 will be assigned to your account. You will need to pay this fee before returning for more treatments.

Thank you for your understanding and respect of this policy.
