Back Pain & Sciatica
Back pain is the most commonly reported pain across Canada. This form of pain generally results from an injury or strain; however, it can sometimes be difficult to determine if the discomfort you’re feeling is the result of general back pain or sciatica.
Back pain can be felt anywhere along the spine, from the neck down to the tailbone with the most common area of pain in the lower back. The pain may also travel to other areas such as the buttocks, the back of the thigh, and down to the lower leg and/or foot. This type of pain is often called “radicular pain”. This pain may feel like tightness, aching, sharp pain, or other feelings such as tingling, numbness, or electric shock-like pain in the back or down the legs.
Sciatic nerve pain is discomfort triggered by nerve compression. Sciatica most commonly occurs when a herniated disk or a bone spur on the spine compresses part of the nerve. It can also be due to any pressure on the nerve anywhere along the pathway of the nerve. This causes inflammation, pain and often some numbness in the affected leg.

The first appointment can take up to an hour. Subsequent treatments can be shorter or longer depending upon the condition and the treatment required.
